I read this book to my son who seemed to hang on to every word, even though at the time I am sure he didn't even understand it. 

This kid's story was about a boy who has a friend that is a tree. The boy needs so many things to grow up and the tree helps him out with his needs. The boy is selfish and the tree doesn't mind. It is until the end where the boy doesn't need the tree anymore because he can no longer offer him anything.

I am pretty sure I teared up at the end of the story. Perfectly written!
